slavery report Jimmy Ernst

Dear Mrs. Magazuu,
I am writing this letter to create a better knowledge of triangle trade and the similarities, and differences of it to modern slave trafficking. Two causes of triangle trade are work needed to be done, and trade.
Triangle trade is when enslaved people are traded for supply. Similar to supply and demand. The supply is the product the demand is what they get back for that product. Which leads me to my first reason triangle trade occurred.
Triangle trade was a way of buying a product necessary to live without having to create your own product. These people who grew corn, or other veggie’s would ship them to another place , and since that other place more than likely did not have anything they could trade in equal value they would trade slaves. Back in those days slaves where vary useful, and not really looked down upon. Owning slaves was a great way to keep you property in good shape, and also a good way to demand supply because than something was available in return. This is one of the main reasons triangle trade occurred. You cannot own products if you have no way of getting them.
The other main reason triangle trade occurred is because of property requirement. Most people had houses and property to take care of. When people would go to trade a product they had the would want to bring slaves back to enhance the production of their product, which in these days is called mass producing. Just say someone owned their own farm, one person cannot keep that farm going on their own, so these people would get slaves to help them. Slaves where the main reason property and wealth continued. If slaves did where not there than triangle trade would have never happened.
These reasons are very similar to modern slave trafficking. Slavery and slave trafficking is still occurring today. Unbelievably, but true slavery has never completely stopped. Now slavery is just hid, and not seen very much. As of right now in the USA there are more than 4 million slaves. In Asia there are 20 million people enslaved, and should not be. Human slave trafficking is still being done over there also. In research I’ve found that recently a slave trafficking boat turned away from Africa on return rout to Asia. I believe that they could fix this problem by being more observant, and create a better law enforcement.

Sincerely, James Ernst
